Kwara Organizes One Day Training for Drug Control Committee Members

The Kwara State Ministry of Health has organized a one day capacity building training, for members of Kwara State Drug Control Committee, to rid the state of illicit drugs and avoid its attendant consequences.

ROYAL NEWS gathered that the training was in its continued efforts to wage total war against the use of illicit drug and drug abuse in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-lmam, stated this today, at a one day capacity building training, organized by the ministry, at TOT Hall of the ministry Headquarters, Fate road, Ilorin.

Declaring open the training, the Commissioner charged participants be more attentive at the training sessions, to ensure that drug addiction and abuse is totally eradicated in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.

The Commissioner, represented by Director, Pharmaceutical Services, Pharmacist Barakat Olanrewaju, who is also the Chairperson of the Committee, Commended Committee members, for their selflessness services, in a bid to reduce the menace of illicit drugs in the State and environs.

The Commissioner thereafter thanked the State Government for its supports at all times, thereby creating an enabling environment for the State Drug Control Committee, to function effectively.

Dr. El-lmam therfore appealed to Committee members to redoubled their efforts at sensitizing the people, on dangers of drug abuse, across the State, to build a viril Nation.

At the training sessions, the Deputy Director Narcotics, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mrs Aina Roseline emphasised more on “benefits of empowering Kwara State Drug Control Committee, in order to to be more effective and measure up to expectations of saving our Youths from dangers of illicit drug, in the society.”

In another session facilitated by Assistant Director of Narcotics, Mr. Ajanaku Toyin, urged the Trainees to be good ambassadors of the committee, in order to attain the state’s goal, at reducing drug abuse, among its people.

“When you say no to drug abuse, desist from taking it”, he conuded.

Participants at the training are, members of Kwara State Drug Control Committee across the state Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs), Staff of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Officers from Directorate of Pharmacy, Ministry of health.
