The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims during a joint operation with local security outfits in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
The operation was carried out on August 30 after residents reported the abduction of three women—Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat—in the Oke-Ile area of Idofin Igbana around 7:45 p.m.
Acting on the report, security operatives launched a coordinated search and combed nearby bushes. Their efforts led them to the Ago Alu Fulani camp along the Idofin/Olla road. On sighting the advancing team, the kidnappers fled, abandoning two of their captives while escaping with the third victim, Ahmed Aminat.
Five suspects—Abubakar Seriki Juli, Mohammadu Bello, Abubakar Sodiq, Abubakar Bako, and another Mohammadu Bello, all residents of Idofin Aiyekale—were arrested at the scene.
“One of the victims was able to positively identify two of the suspects as members of the gang that carried out the abduction,” a security source confirmed.
Police authorities said the rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing kidnappers and secure the release of the remaining victim.
