Kwara Reopens Some Schools After Security Review

Date:

The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate reopening of a few schools earlier shut down due to security concerns in some parts of the state.
Recall that the directive was confirmed by the Commissioner of Education, Mr Lawal Olohungbebe yesterday, who said the decision followed improvements in the security situation and consultations with relevant authorities.

According to the Press secretary to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mr Peter Amogbonjaye who spoke to our correspondents today, said the announcement was received with excitement across the various affected local government areas, as many parents and students expressed happiness over the resumption of academic activities after weeks of disruption.

However, there are concerns from parts of Isin Local Government Area, where reports indicate that some schools are hesitant to resume. Residents in the area say fear still lingers due to uncertainty surrounding the security situation, despite the government’s directive. Meanwhile, there wasn’t a great turnout due to complaints that the resumption was an abrupt development.

However, the Commissioner of Education has reassured that security operations continue steadily in the affected communities while urging schools to comply with the reopening order.
