The Kwara State Government has taken punitive measure against residents involved in illegal water connections by disconnecting them from regular water supply with immediate effect.

The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade led the government team to enforce the disconnection order during an inspection visit to some areas in the Ilorin metropolis to ensure compliance.

Lade, who had earlier warned residents of the state involved in illegal water connection to desist from such act, personally supervised the immediate disconnection of those caught in the illicit water connections during the monitoring exercise.

The Commissioner said it is a proactive move to stop illegal water connection in the state. Areas visited include Egbejila, Olorunshogo, and Mandate.

Lade, who also emphasized the importance of residents paying their water levies regularly, urged them to ensure that they collect receipts as evidence of payment.

The unscheduled inspection visit, the Commissioner stated, is aimed at cracking down on illegal water connectors and promoting adherence to water usage regulations.

Responding, residents of the areas visited expressed gratitude to the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ensuring a steady and reliable water supply in the state.
