KWASU among universities affected as JAMB halts Law admissions for 2025/2026

Date:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will not process admissions for Law programmes at Kwara State University (KWASU) and seven other universities following a suspension imposed by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The affected institutions include:

  1. Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
  2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
  3. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
  4. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
  5. Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
  6. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
  7. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
  8. Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State (suspension extends to 2026/2027 session)

According to a statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., the suspension means no candidates will be admitted into the Law programme at these institutions for the upcoming academic session.

Additionally, the Nigerian Police Academy in Kano will not admit students into its Law programme for two consecutive sessions—2025/2026 and 2026/2027.

JAMB emphasized that it will strictly enforce this directive and urged prospective law students to take note when selecting their preferred institutions.

The reason for the suspension has not been explicitly stated, but such actions are typically linked to accreditation concerns or non-compliance with legal education standards.
