KWCSDA NG-CARES: 17 months claim of unpaid salaries fictitious, non-existent

The Management of Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency -NG CARES (KWCSDA-NG CARES), has described as false, information circulating on social media that the Kwara State Government is owing the staff of the agency six months salary.

The Project Officer, Public Relations Officer, KWCSDA NG-CARES, Olufunke Olorunnisola, debunked the rumour making rounds on social in a statement issued on Monday, saying that the information is nefarious.

According to Olorunnisola, the notion that the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) that requires Government Counterpart funding has closed since June 2021, and hence the issue of staff not being paid their 17 months salaries as a result of non-payment of Government Counterpart funding is fictional and non-existence.

She said, “To set the record straight, salaries of KWCSDA-NG CARES Staff are to be paid from the NG-CARES programme fund which is yet to be disbursed by the Federal Government to 36 States and FCT, the Agency will like to bring to the notice of the general public that KWCSDA-NG CARES does not require counterpart funding from Kwara State Government.”

She also said, the award received by the Agency was possible as a result of the tremendous support received from the current administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq when he released the sum of N60million as counterpart funding in October, 2019.

“It is worthy of note that Kwara State Government was the first State in the Federation to release the sum of N76million for the commencement of NG-CARES programme which has enabled the Agency to intervene in 5 communities, with a total of 16 Micro-projects in the areas of Water, VIP toilets and Community Health centers across the 3 Senatorial districts of Kwara States; so far, these micro-projects are presently on-going.”

She expressed KWCSDA -NG-CARES’ appreciation to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his continuous support to the Agency and his great development strides in Kwara State, not mindful of distractors circulating such misleading information.
