A fatal road crash along the Mountain Top University axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed two lives and left two others injured. The accident, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, involved a white Toyota Hiace bus with number plate AGL 54 XU and an unregistered truck.
According to a traffic update by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the Hiace bus rammed into the moving truck from behind due to excessive speeding and loss of control. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The crash involved 12 occupants—seven males and five females. Traffic compliance and enforcement agency confirmed that one male and one female died, while another male and female sustained injuries. The injured victims were taken to AZ Hospital in Magboro by Federal Road Safety Corps personnel before TRACE officials arrived. The deceased have been deposited at the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu.
TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the incident on Wednesday, adding that speeding and reckless driving remain the leading causes of road crashes in the state. The accident occurred less than 24 hours after two people were killed in three separate crashes across Ogun State, highlighting rising concerns over driver behavior on major highways.
