The monarch described late Iwuanyanwu as an industrious personality, promoter of sports and detrabalised Nigeria with global connections.
This is contained in a condolence message issued by the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, stressing that, “The deceased was one of Nigeria’s most dedicated politicians and philanthropists”.
Late Iwuanyanwu’s political generosity and detribalization was indeed legendary. I came across him when I was the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Football Association (NFA). We became friends and borthers. His humility and love for national integration was highly commendable snd he stood for equity, fairness and service to humanity. He used his endowed resources to establish and promote Iwuanyanwu Nationale, one of the leading professional football team that later produced some players for Nigeria’s National Team (Super Eagles) and many international clubs.
“He contributed tremendously to the education sector by sponsoring the less privileged through award of scholarships and extension of supports to educational institutions.”
While condoling his children, immediate and extended family members, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari extends his condolence to the Government and good people of Imo State over the unfortunate demise of the late nationalist.
The Emir prayed that Almighty God should repose his soul and give the entire humanity the fortitude to bear the great loss.
