The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has thanked all sons and daughters as well as residents of Ilorin Emirate for their peaceful conducts at the Eid praying ground on Friday.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, thanked Muslim Ummah as well as politicians across all party lines for their patriotism and commitments to the unity, growth and development of the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State in general.
The Emir who expressed his heartfelt gratitude and satisfation appealed to Political and Religious Groups, Youth Associations, Market Men and Women to emulate their conduct at Eid praying ground and transfer it to the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar coming up on Sunday at the Baseball park, Adewole Area, Ilorin.
He also stressed that, “We should not allow politics to destroy our rich cultural heritage, traditional values and moral conducts. Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State is known for harmony and peaceful coexistence.
“We need to be prepared to collectively preserve and promote our values, we are model to some other towns and cities across the country and we should not allow this enviable attribute to be eroded for any reason.
“Durbar is an event to showcase who we are and what we represent. Let’s exihibit and potray our ourselves as people with good history and positive plans for the future. I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow in grand style, elegance and display of royalty.”
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also appealed to participants to cooperate with the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar Committee under the leadership of Engr. Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa and security agents in order to make this years event memorable.
The Emir however prayed Almighty Allah to make this year’s Eid-el-Kabir and Durbar celebrations a blissful gathering that will further attract more growth and development to the state.
