A mosque in Maiduguri has dismissed reports circulating on social media that unknown persons planted a bomb inside its premises.
The mosque, popularly known as Malam Bako Mosque, described the claim as false and without any factual basis. In a statement released on Tuesday, the mosque’s management clarified that no such incident occurred within the mosque or its surrounding area.
According to the statement titled “Official Statement from the Management of Malam Bako Mosque, Layin Hadiza,” the rumour alleging that individuals attempted to plant a bomb in the mosque is completely untrue. The management emphasized that the situation around the mosque remains calm and safe for both worshippers and residents.
The mosque, located in the Layin Hadiza area of Maiduguri, urged members of the public to ignore the circulating message and avoid spreading unverified information that could create fear or panic in the community.
Reacting to the report, the Borno State Police Command also dismissed the claim. Police spokesperson Nahum Daso described the social media report as false and advised residents to remain vigilant while refraining from sharing unconfirmed information.
