The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, has inspected three police hospitals in Abuja for strategic assessment of police infrastructure and welfare facilities.
The Management of the Police Affairs led by the Minister of State inspected Police Hospital Dei Dei, Police Hospital Area 1, and Muhammandu Buhari Hospital Area 11, Garki on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
She said that the assessment is part of a key component of the Renewed Hope Police Agenda under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She acknowledged and commended the remarkable efforts of the hospital staff for their dedication and resilience, given the challenging circumstances prevailing in the hospital environment. “I truly commend and deeply appreciate all your efforts” Imaan stressed.
In her words, “Our government recognizes the critical role that quality healthcare plays in the well-being of our serving and retired officers. We are committed to enhancing the quality of these facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of care. This includes upgrading equipment, improving infrastructure, and providing resources to support our healthcare professionals in their noble work”.
Imaan also pointed out that officers, who serve and protect the nation, deserve nothing less than the best possible care noting that the government is determined to strengthen the support systems available to them and ensure their health and welfare are prioritized.
According to her, “I can assure you that my commitment to enhancing the welfare of Police Officers is steadfast. I will continue to be a strong advocate for efforts that will further strengthen and position the Nigeria Police Force as a world class policing institution. Our goal is to see the emergence of a world-class police force that is inclusive, intelligence led, technology-driven, and community-based that is alive to its constitutional responsibilities”.
Earlier, the Force Medical Officer, Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel N. Garba, stated that the Nigeria Police Medical Services has a total of one hundred and sixty-four (164) Healthcare facilities scattered across the country in all police commands, zones, and formations with different levels of healthcare delivery systems ranging from sick-bay, primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care.
He added that the Nigeria Police Medical Services faces challenges that mitigate the effective and efficient performance of its personnel in the area of disease prevention, management, and treatment, using cutting-edge technologies and maintaining global best practices.
In his words, “With the support of the IGP, we are in collaboration with the European Society for Quality Assessment (ESFEDA) for standardized laboratory service to achieve international test results that is comparable with any lab globally. Even though we face myriads of challenges, the Police HMO is always handy to assist in meeting some of our needs.”
