The naira on Thursday recorded a modest appreciation against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened to N1,419.28 per dollar, up from N1,420.04 on Wednesday, representing a gain of 76 kobo.
At the parallel market, the naira remained stable at N1,490 per dollar, according to Bureau De Change operators in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
The slight recovery at the official market coincides with a continued increase in Nigeria’s external reserves, which rose to $45.82 billion as of January 14, up from $45.78 billion the previous day.
