NAN staff, Usman Aliyu, 9 others become 2022 Solutions Journalism Network Fellow

A Principal Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Usman Aliyu, alongside nine others were on Tuesday announced as 2022 Fellows of Solutions Journalism Network.

The 2020 African fellow has had a stint in many beats over the years with special interest in Health and Gender, Sports, Judiciary, Education, Agriculture and Environment, Politics, and Economy beats.

ROYAL NEWS reports was trained Solutions Journalist in 2020 at the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, courtesy of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Unveiling the fellows, Nigeria Health Watch, which is handling the Solutions Journalism African Initiative Project said it was thrilled to announce the recipients of the Solutions Journalism Africa fellowship.

“The fellowship is part of the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative supported by the Solutions Journalism Network, U.S.A.

“Over the next four months, the 10 selected fellows will produce and publish stories of how people are responding to various social problems across Nigeria and in their communities.

“They will also amplify the practice of solutions journalism through their various project ideas from advocacy visits to journalism training institutions and facilitating solutions journalism trainings,” Nigeria Health Watch said in its statement.

Checks revealed that Aliyu joined the service of NAN in 2010 as a reporter and has reported from both the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria.
