Nasarawa agency generates over N500m in 8months

NASARAWA State Geographic Information Service, NAGIS, said it generated N558.3million between January and August this year.

Director General of the agency, Mr. Sonny Agassi, disclosed this on Thursday when he appeared before the State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey on the 2021 budget assessment in Lafia.

He explained that the law establishing the agency mandates it to process grants of statutory Rights of Occupancy, issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, among others.

According to him, “From January to August, 2021, our total collection is N558, 257, 349 which has been paid into the account of the Nasarawa State Government.”

Ogassi commended the Assembly Committee for the attention it has been giving the agency, assuring that the agency will continue to be up and doing in generating more revenue for the state government.

“We want to assure that we will continue to do our best in ensuring that we move Nasarawa State forward through NAGIS”, he added.

Earlier, Hon David Maiyaki, ( APC- Karu/ Gitata) the Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Survey said the invitation extend to the management of the agency was to know its 2021 budget performance with a view to addressing any possible challenge.

“This is one of our constitutional responsibilities. Ensuring that the right things are done for the betterment of the state”

“We will continue to collaborate and support the executive arm to succeed for the overall development of the state,” he said.

Maiyaki commended the agency for generating more funds for the state government and urged its sustenance, just as he called for more synergy between the ministry of lands and the agency for development to thrive.
