Nigeria Customs Warns Public About Fake Vehicle Auction Instagram Account

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has alerted the public to a fraudulent Instagram account, J. O. Attah Autos, which is conducting fake vehicle auctions while falsely claiming affiliation with the service.

NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada issued the warning on Monday in Abuja, cautioning Nigerians to avoid the account with the handle @nigeriacustoms001. The page reportedly posts discounted vehicle images alongside a phone number to lure unsuspecting buyers.

Maiwada described the account as an impersonation, noting that the profile uses the image of an actual NCS officer who is not involved in any car sales on social media.

“The NCS wishes to state clearly that this claim is false and did not originate from the service. Members of the public are strongly advised to disregard such messages, refrain from making any payments, and report the account for further action,” he said.

The NCS emphasized that the public should rely only on its official communication channels and verified social media handles for accurate and trustworthy information.
