Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and activist politician Omoyele Sowore have been released from Kuje Prison after fulfilling their bail conditions.
Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, was also among those released on Monday, alongside other individuals arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protests in Abuja.
Sowore, who had led the demonstrations, was previously detained by the Nigeria Police Force when he attended the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kanu’s trial. The detainees were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kuje Area Council, which granted them bail on Friday.
In footage published by SaharaReporters, Ejimakor, Sowore, Prince Emmanuel, and others were seen leaving the prison while carrying their belongings and singing a solidarity song.
Earlier reports by NAN noted that Ejimakor collapsed during detention and was attended to at the Kuje Prison clinic.
