No one should face breast cancer alone, says Governor’s wife

Hajia Huriya Dauda Lawal

Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriya Dauda Lawal, has urged people to support individuals facing breast cancer with encouragement and hope for a better future, as she sponsored free screenings and surgeries for 100 cancer patients in the state.

The Zamfara Governor’s wife disclosed this on Monday while commemorating World Breast Cancer Day 2024 in the state.

“Today, we walked together in solidarity, proclaiming that NO ONE SHOULD FACE BREAST CANCER ALONE,” she stated. “We stand united in support of those affected, honouring the strength of survivors and the memory of loved ones lost,” she assured.

Hajiya Huriya Dauda maintained that with the support of her husband, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, 100 selected breast cancer patients would undergo free screening and lumpectomy surgery in the state.

“I’m proud to announce that my office, with the support of my dear husband, His Excellency Governor Dauda Lawal, has sponsored FREE breast screenings and lumpectomy surgeries for 100 carefully selected women, ensuring access to life-saving care for those who need it most,” she said.

She emphasised, “Let’s march forward, hand in hand, towards a better future to support every individual facing breast cancer with hope, encouragement, and victory in the state.”

To mark World Breast Cancer Day 2024 in the state, a street walk was led by the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Huriya Dauda Lawal, alongside NGOs, civil society organisations, and some government officials from the Government House to General Hospital Gusau in the state.

At General Hospital Gusau, the governor’s wife donated three million five hundred thousand naira to conduct free breast cancer screenings in the state.
