Defending champions Remo Stars and Rangers International bounced back to winning form on Monday, securing vital victories in their respective Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixtures,Royal News reports.
At the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Remo Stars ended their two-match losing streak with a 2–0 victory over a resilient Wikki Tourists, while Rangers International edged Katsina United 1–0 in Enugu in a rain-delayed encounter that resumed on Monday morning.
Remo Stars Regain Momentum
After suffering consecutive league defeats to Plateau United and Abia Warriors, the Sky Blue Stars were under pressure to rediscover their domestic form following their impressive performances in the CAF Champions League.
The hosts dominated the opening half but failed to convert their superiority into goals, with Olamilekan Adedayo and Ibrahim Shuaib both missing key chances.
The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute when Adama Goita pounced on Ibrahim Abubakar’s low cross to slot home at the back post, sending the home fans into jubilation.
With confidence restored, Alex Oyowah sealed the win in stoppage time after capitalising on a goalkeeping error to make it 2–0.

Rangers Grind Out Narrow Win in Enugu
In Enugu, Rangers International completed their rain-interrupted fixture against Katsina United with a hard-fought 1–0 victory at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The game, which was suspended on Sunday following heavy rainfall and a waterlogged pitch, resumed early Monday morning with the Flying Antelopes determined to make home advantage count.
Their persistence paid off as Godwin Obaje netted the decisive goal 25 minutes after the restart, finishing coolly from a low cross to give Rangers a crucial lead.
Despite being reduced to ten men late in the game following Jerry’s dismissal for a reckless challenge, the hosts held firm under pressure to secure all three points.
The result marked Rangers’ second win of the season, propelling them from 17th to 13th place with eight points and a game in hand against Abia Warriors. Katsina United, meanwhile, remained tenth with nine points after missing the chance to climb into the top half of the table.
