Ondo Police Uncover Baby Factory, Rescue Five Pregnant Teenagers

Date:

The Ondo State Police Command has busted a suspected baby factory in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area, arresting a woman identified as Ada Clement, alleged to be the operator of the illegal facility.

In a statement released on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that five pregnant underage girls and a newborn baby boy were rescued from the facility.

According to Ayanlade, the arrest followed a report by 17-year-old Vivian Peter from Ikot Ekpan, Akwa Ibom State, who told police that she had been trafficked to Ore under the pretext of securing a job.

“Upon her arrival in Ore, she was taken to a supposed clinic that later turned out to be a baby factory, where she met other pregnant girls allegedly being held for exploitation,” the statement read.

Vivian managed to escape when she was taken to another hospital for a medical scan and reported the matter to the Ore Police Division on October 21, 2025, around 7:30 p.m.

Following her report, operatives from the Ore Division, in collaboration with the Gender-Based Violence Unit, raided the facility and rescued the victims. One of the girls had already delivered a baby boy and is currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ore.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ada Clement and her accomplices had been running the baby factory, where pregnant girls were held until delivery, after which their babies were sold to buyers — female infants for ₦400,000 and above, and male infants for ₦600,000 and above.

The police said the suspect had confessed to the crime, and efforts were underway to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident to ensure all culprits are brought to justice.

“All rescued victims are in protective custody while detectives continue to track down other members of the trafficking ring,” Ayanlade added.
