Onu contributed to national dev, says Police Affairs Minister

Minister of Police Affairs, Senators Ibrahim Gaidam, has said that the former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, contributed immensely to the growth and development of the country.

Commiserating with the family of the first civilian governor of Abia State, he said the deceased left great impacts as a governor and minister.

Gaidam, in a statement made available to our correspondent stated: “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the former Minister of Science and Technology in Nigeria. His contributions to the country as a politician, author, and engineer will always be remembered.

“Dr. Onu’s legacy as the first civilian governor of Abia State and his service as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation have left a lasting impact on the nation. His dedication to advancing science and technology in Nigeria has inspired many and his loss will be felt by all who knew him.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Onu’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the memories of his remarkable life and may his soul rest in peace.”

It would be recalled that Onu, who was a former minister under Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, died on Thursday, April 11 at the age of 72 years in Abuja.

He hailed from Ụbụrụ in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
