Osinbajo To Chair 10th House Of Justice Summit In Kaduna

Date:

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) will chair the 10th edition of the House of Justice Summit and Orange Ball Banquet scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Epitome Events Centre in Barnawa, Kaduna.

The annual summit, themed “From Camps to Justice and Communities,” will focus on charting a justice-based approach to ending Nigeria’s long-running insurgency and ensuring the resettlement of displaced persons across affected regions.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas (SAN), is expected to deliver the keynote address. Other notable participants include former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd); Senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Marshall Katung; and the Second Secretary of the British High Commission in Nigeria, David Snelling.

Speaking ahead of the event, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the House of Justice, Gloria Ballason, said the summit’s theme underscores the need to move beyond short-term humanitarian responses toward long-term justice and community restoration.

“This milestone event comes at a time when concerns are rising about foreign intervention and sovereignty in addressing Nigeria’s insecurity,” Ballason said. “Accepting the factual narratives of insurgency and prioritising justice and resettlement for displaced victims are essential for lasting peace.”

She noted that millions of Nigerians in the North-East and North-West remain displaced after years of violent conflict, adding that true recovery requires not just relief supplies but also justice for victims. “Beyond feeding camps and building shelters, there is a moral and constitutional duty to restore victims’ dignity through justice,” she said.

According to Ballason, the summit will bring together policymakers, legal scholars, defence experts, and humanitarian leaders to identify legal and institutional gaps and propose frameworks for compensation, transitional justice, and community reintegration.

Panel sessions will feature representatives from the National Human Rights Commission, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, development agencies, and international partners.

The event will culminate in the Orange Ball Banquet, aimed at fostering collaboration among advocates of human rights, social justice, and civic engagement across Africa.

Founded in 2010, the House of Justice has become a leading civic hub promoting access to justice, legal literacy, and human rights advocacy in Nigeria. Its annual summits have consistently attracted top jurists, policymakers, and international stakeholders committed to advancing justice and democratic development.
