PiCNG, City Boy Movement Partner On Nationwide CNG Awareness

Date:

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PiCNG) has launched a coordinated effort to expand public awareness and grassroots engagement on the economic and environmental advantages of compressed natural gas across the country.

The initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader plan to advance Nigeria’s transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.

PiCNG Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ismaeel Ahmed, disclosed the move on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Director-General of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, who met with him to explore a strategic grassroots partnership.

Dr. Ahmed said collaborating with organisations that have strong community reach, such as CBM, will help bridge the gap between federal energy policies and local communities, ensuring citizens understand and benefit from the shift to CNG.

He added that the partnership is expected to deepen community engagement, accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies and expand access to alternative fuel options, especially in underserved areas.

Shoga, speaking during the visit, said the collaboration aligns with CBM’s mandate of mobilising citizens at the grassroots, promoting government policies, empowering communities, and supporting sustainable development across the country.

He described the PiCNG programme as a transformative national initiative capable of generating jobs, reducing unemployment, stimulating economic growth and enhancing environmental sustainability.

According to him, the CNG drive, a key component of the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promotes affordable fuel alternatives, encourages emission reduction and supports national goals on sustainable transport and gas-flaring mitigation.

Shoga added that CBM will support the initiative by driving a bottom-up adoption strategy aimed at ensuring CNG opportunities, training and infrastructure reach communities nationwide.
