Paul Pogba is set to be named in Monaco’s squad for their Ligue 1 clash against Rennes on Saturday, marking his long-awaited return to competitive football.
According to ESPN, the club’s plan is for the midfielder to feature for a few minutes as he eases back into action.
Pogba has not played since September 3, 2023, when he logged 28 minutes for Juventus against Empoli. A month earlier, he tested positive for DHEA and was handed a four-year ban in February 2024. The suspension was later reduced to 18 months following a successful appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The 32-year-old trained fully with the Monaco squad on Thursday and is expected to take part in another session on Friday. If he suffers no setbacks, he will travel with the team to Rennes.
Pogba was initially expected to feature against Angers before the international break but was ruled out after picking up a minor ankle injury in training.
