President Tinubu Deploys Security Chiefs to Maiduguri, Vows Intensified Fight Against Terrorism

President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, to take charge of the security situation following recent terror attacks, while pledging that his administration will continue to intensify efforts against criminal and terrorist elements across Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, the president described the attacks as “profoundly upsetting,” expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, sympathy for the injured, and solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging period.

Tinubu characterized the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements to instil fear,” noting that they are under constant pressure from the nation’s armed forces and security agencies. He commended the courage and fighting spirit of troops and civilian task forces who successfully repelled coordinated attacks on military positions in the state.

He recalled that during a recent security meeting with top intelligence and defense officials, he approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance the capabilities of security agencies. “This effort is already in progress,” the president said, adding that emergency agencies have been directed to provide proper care for the injured.

Concluding his statement, President Tinubu emphasized, “There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”
