Real Madrid and several other top clubs have proposed that the FIFA Club World Cup be held every two years instead of its current four-year cycle. However, FIFA has reportedly rejected the idea for now, citing scheduling constraints, according to Madrid Zone via @Rodra10_97.
The push comes after FIFA expanded the Club World Cup format from 7 teams to 32, with the inaugural edition of the revamped tournament taking place in 2025. Chelsea emerged as champions, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 in the final held in the United States.
Following the tournament, FIFA declared Chelsea as the first official winners under the new Club World Cup format. In a rebranding move, previous champions of the 7-team format—including 2023 winners Manchester City, who beat Fluminense 4–0—will now be referred to as “Intercontinental Champions.”
