Rivers West Senator Ipalibo Banigo has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). She announced her defection during plenary at the Senate on Tuesday, March 10.
Banigo explained that her move is intended to politically align with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the administration of President Bola Tinubu. She emphasized that the defection is aimed at supporting governance and advancing development initiatives in Rivers State.
The senator’s resignation letter, read on the Senate floor by Akpabio, stated that her decision followed extensive consultations with both her constituents and political associates. She stressed that the move reflects a considered choice based on local and state interests.
