Russia Strikes UN Aid Convoy In Southern Ukraine

Date:

Russian forces targeted a United Nations aid convoy in Ukraine’s partially-occupied Kherson region, Kyiv authorities reported on Tuesday. Ukrainian officials confirmed there were no casualties.

Oleksandr Prokudin, head of Kherson’s regional military administration, said the attack involved drones and artillery near the frontline town of Bilozerka. “The occupiers deliberately targeted UN OCHA trucks,” he wrote on social media. Of the four vehicles in the convoy, one burned completely, another was heavily damaged, and two were unharmed.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga condemned the strike as “another brutal violation of international law, proving Russia’s utter disregard for civilian lives and its international obligations.”

No immediate comment was issued by the United Nations or Moscow. Prokudin shared a photo showing a white truck bearing the World Food Programme emblem engulfed in black smoke.

Aid organizations have repeatedly reported attacks on their staff and facilities since the Russian invasion began nearly four years ago.
