Baring any change of plan, the Senate Committee on Appropriations will on December 3, present the harmonized version of 2021 budget at the plenary session.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Barau Jibrin, dropped the hint after chairmen of some standing committees submitted their reports for consideration by his committee.
“We have our time table,  we want to submit by 3rd of December, 2020. We are going to submit harmonized version of 2021 budget by the grace of God. We are working toward submission of the budget on December 3,” he said.
Jibrin assured that the issue of omitting allocations to some agencies in the budget would be addressed by the Committee on Appropriation, saying th
“The budget proposal is a very very wide process, talking about estimates of expenditures that are going to be overtaken by the federal government.
“So, when you have several expenditures, there is room for omission that is why we are here. We’ll tell our own committees to go and scrutinize the budget of ministries and report back to us.
“Whatever you see in the budget whether is an omission, our work is to get the report and engage our own expertise here.
“We have accountants, we have economists, they will be addressed, if there is need for correction, if there is an omission, we will fill those gaps. So, there is no cause for alarm,” he stressed.
