The Kwara Garment Factory, Ilorin, on Monday played host to participants of Senior Course 47 from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, as part of their study tour of Kwara State.
The visiting delegation, comprising senior military officers from various branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces and allied nations, was led by Colonel Usman Hashim Muhammed. They were warmly received by the Managing Director of Kwara Garment Factory, Hajia Bukola Adedeji, who guided them through the facility’s operations.
In her welcome address, Hajia Adedeji expressed her pleasure at hosting representatives from such a respected institution. She emphasized the factory’s role in advancing industrialization, creating jobs, and supporting the state’s economic diversification efforts. The visitors were taken through the full production cycle; from fabric cutting to finishing, and introduced to the factory’s skilled workforce and modern equipment.
Also present was the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Shuaib, who noted that the visit was part of a broader tour of key institutions in Kwara. The objective, he said, was to deepen the participants’ understanding of governance and national development strategies.
Speaking during the visit, Colonel Muhammed praised both the Kwara State Government and the management of the garment factory for their warm reception. He explained that the study tour, tagged “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhancing Internal Security” aims to strengthen civil-military relations, encourage community engagement, and explore how economic initiatives contribute to national security and sustainable development.
He commended the factory’s operational structure and its impact on youth empowerment and poverty reduction through job creation.
The visit included interactive sessions between course participants and factory staff, highlighting how grassroots economic ventures like the garment factory can play a vital role in promoting peace and security.
The Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, is Nigeria’s premier institution for training mid-level officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and allied countries for higher command and staff responsibilities.
To commemorate the visit, the delegation received branded souvenirs such as T-shirts and caps as tokens of appreciation.
The visit reinforced the critical link between economic empowerment and internal security and showcased the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in building a secure and prosperous nation.
