Soludo Appoints Chiamaka Nnake as Anambra’s First Female SSG

Date:

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), making her the first woman to hold the position since the state’s creation.

Nnake, 39, succeeds Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, who has served in the role since the inception of the Soludo administration. Her appointment is also the first major political appointment following the governor’s second-term commencement.

A native of Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nnake is a finance and public sector professional with over 13 years of experience spanning finance, strategy development, and economic planning.

Prior to her new role, she served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, as well as Chairman of Solution Fun City Limited, where she led resource mobilisation, planning, and allocation efforts aimed at driving socio-economic development.

She has held several key leadership roles across state institutions, including the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.

As the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and focal point for Social Investment Programmes, Nnake played a pivotal role in advancing reforms and promoting inclusive economic growth. She also serves as Nigeria Chairperson for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) Programme.

Before transitioning into public service, she worked as a Senior Strategy Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she led over 30 client engagements across both local and international markets in sectors including financial services, government, and agriculture. She received the firm’s CEO Award in 2021 in recognition of her outstanding performance.

During her time at PwC, she contributed to the development of Anambra Vision 2070—a long-term development blueprint—and provided technical support for the Combined Transition Plan, a key element of the current administration’s strategy.

Earlier in her career, Nnake worked as a Business Analyst at IHS Towers and as an Equity Research Analyst at Meristem Securities, where she covered publicly listed pharmaceutical and consumer goods companies.

She holds a Master of Business Administration from Lagos Business School and earned Beta Gamma Sigma lifetime recognition for academic excellence. She graduated with First-Class Honours in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.

Nnake is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of its National Advisory Committee. She has also passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme, completed executive training at Harvard Kennedy School, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy.
