    A resurfaced video of social media influencer Sisi.Oyibo has reignited debate on identity, migration, and belonging in Nigeria.

    The clip, reshared on Sunday by X user Sir Dickson (@Wizarab10), shows the influencer defending her Nigerian identity against critics who questioned her background.

    In the video, Sisi.Oyibo dismissed doubts about her roots, saying, “I said I’m white, I’m French, Lebanese, but they raised me in Ajah since I be pikin. I cannot be from somewhere again.” She likened her experience to that of Nigerians who identify with foreign cities after being raised abroad.

    She argued, “If they raise you somewhere… every time you ask somebody for this America, even Nigerians, you ask them, where are you from? They will tell you Houston, Texas, because they raised them in Houston. So me, that was raised in Lagos, I cannot say I’m from Nigeria again…”

    Sir Dickson, while sharing the video, criticized what he described as double standards. “A Nigerian would be raised in London or Atlanta and start claiming to be British or American. But when a foreigner raised in Nigeria does the same, you talk down on them. Migration happens both ways,” he wrote.

    Reactions on Instagram largely favored the influencer. Many praised her command of pidgin English and Lagos upbringing, with one user, smartalliolayinka, declaring: “You are a Lagosian. Period.” Another, paolofrancis07, commented: “I’m loving it for the way u speak, girl. It’s awesome.”

    On X, however, the debate expanded into broader discussions about identity and geography. User @Amaafrikaa argued that belonging is not just about ancestry but also about where one grows and builds a life.

    Others suggested that the controversy was tied to Lagos specifically. “Most of these people are not angry that she identifies as Nigerian; the problem is the Lagos that is involved. If she had mentioned any other part of Nigeria, they would have celebrated her online,” wrote @UC_Emeliem.

    Some voices defended her position outright. “If you are born and brought up in Lagos, you are rightfully a Lagosian. Period,” wrote @PontiffVoice.

    The stunt combined music promotion with innovative technology, giving fans a unique experience while setting a new global benchmark for drone-assisted deliveries.

    Jeffrey Daniel, legendary dancer and member of the R&B group Shalamar, has revealed how he introduced Michael Jackson to the moonwalk, the move that became the King of Pop’s signature.

    Speaking in an interview on Channels TV on Thursday, Daniel explained that Jackson first noticed him performing the “backslide”—later renamed the moonwalk—on Soul Train in 1979 while dancing with his group, Eclipse.

    “In 1980, Michael came to Disneyland to watch us perform. He brought little Janet Jackson with him, and they stood in the wing watching us dance. Then he asked me to teach him,” Daniel said.

    Daniel went on to collaborate with Jackson for over two decades, contributing choreography to classics such as Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Ghosts, and They Don’t Really Care About Us. He also worked at Jackson’s record label, MJJ Music, as an A&R and creative consultant.

    In a surprising revelation, Daniel disclosed that he and Jackson were cousins—something he only discovered in 2008. “All the years we were working together, I never knew we were related. My father later showed me my family tree, and I found out I’m Michael’s cousin,” he said.

    Daniel added that he now shares a close bond with the Jackson family, often speaking with Janet, Jermaine, Randy, and Rebbie.

    “Some of my classmates are still telling me that, ‘Dammy, do you truly want to cook beans?’ Like, no! Why would I do that?” she said.

    She congratulated Baci on her achievement, describing it as a win not only for Nigeria but for Africa as a whole. “I’d like to send a very big congratulations to Ms. Hilda for the just completed project of cooking the biggest pot of jollof rice to feed thousands,” she said. “Congratulations to Nigeria as a whole too, because this is a win for everybody in Nigeria, to all the African countries.”

    Dammy, who rose to fame after her widely publicized 2023 cook-a-thon attempt, also thanked those who have supported her growth and career. She expressed gratitude to her mentors, supporters, and sponsors, saying their encouragement has helped her stay focused.

    Reflecting on her unexpected rise to fame, Dammy admitted that the cook-a-thon went viral beyond her expectations. She said she did not inform her parents beforehand and was surprised to see herself trending on social media.

    However, she revealed that the attention came at a cost, exposing her to severe online criticism, cyberbullying, and even real-life harassment, which left her emotionally distressed.

    “Even the cook-a-thon, I didn’t know it was going to be viral. I didn’t even tell my parents about it; they just saw me. I was shocked to see myself on social media,” she said.
