    The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has commiserated with the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II over the demise of his mother, Alhaja Hawawu Gbadamosi.

    Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence message issued on Saturday by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, said: “the incidence, although, saddened but accepted in total submission to the Will of Almighty Allah. ”

    The Emir who extended the heartfelt condolences of the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council to His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, urged him to be strong stressing that, “Our hearts and prayers are with you at this auspicious moment.”

    Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also condoled with the immediate and extended family members of the deceased as well as the entire people of Offa, over the demise of the monarch’s mother.

    He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds and admit her into Al-janatul firdaos.

    The Nationwide Tinubu Connect Associates (NTCA) has appointed the Development Officer of Offa Local Government Area, Hon. Zainab Abbas, as the Women Leader for Kwara State.

    According to a statement signed by the association’s National Secretary, Prof. Rabiu A. Usman, the appointment which takes effect from 25th December, 2024, is in recognition of Abbas’ many years of experience as a Political Mobilizer, all of which are in line with the requirements for appointment into the great movement of making Nigeria safe and great again.

  • EFCC arrests 55 ‘Yahoo Yahoo boys’ with charms, others in Offa

    No fewer than 55 suspected internet fraudsters
    were on Wednesday arrested by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), at different locations in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

    Recalled that officers of the Commission had between September 3 and 6, 2024 arrested about 100 persons suspected to be internet fraudsters at different locations within the city of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

    ROYAL NEWS gathered that the latest arrest, which involved mostly young men of school age were smoked out of their hideouts in the early hours of Wednesday following credible intelligence on the rising activities of fraudsters inflicting pains and sorrow on innocent citizens through fraudulent pranks in the area.

    Items recovered from the suspects include nine exotic cars and two bikes suspected to be proceeds of crime, laptops and smart phones used in perpetrating the illicit trade as well as assorted charms.

    The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.

    Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sends his condolences to the family of the former General Manager of Radio Kwara and former Editor of the Herald Dr. Rahim Kajogbola Omoloso who died on Friday.

    Dr. Omoloso, father of Mr. Musiliudeen Kehinde Omoloso of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), was also an Associate Professor at the Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin.

    The Governor says the deceased was a perfect gentleman and a decent public servant who served God and humanity, urging the family to take solace in his fine legacies, according to a statement issued by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Sunday.

    “Governor Abdulrazaq particularly sympathises with the immediate family of the deceased, the media fraternity in the state, and the Al-Hikmah University.

    “The Governor asks Allaah to grant Dr. Omoloso al-jannah Firdaus and keep his family upon goodness”, he added.

    Management of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has commenced investigation into the killing of Miss Toyin Bamidele, an HND 1 Food Technology student of the institution by some unknown assailants.

    The incidence was received with rude shock the murder of Bamidele who was allegedly hacked to death in her rented apartment on Thursday 16 November 2023, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Head of Public Rections unit of the institution, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye.

    According to her, “The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms as it is strange in the Polytechnic community.

    “While the circumstances behind the incident remain unknown, investigations are currently ongoing to reveal the identity of the evil occurrence by the appropriate security agencies and, as a matter of urgency, to fish out the culprits.”

    Oyinloye further stressed that, “Her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire management and Staff of the Polytechnic. The management somberly condoles with her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for the great loss and urges anyone who has useful information on this occurrence to report to Security Agents.

    “The management prays to God to repose her soul, grant her eternal rest and uphold her family to bear the loss.”

    The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has described the demise of a former military governor of the state, Group Captain Salaudeen Olatinwo (rtd) as a great loss to the state and nation at large .

    Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, who said the tenure of the deceased coincided with his own installation as the Ciroma of Ilorin in 1984 by the late 9th Emir of Ilorin, Shehu Zulqarnaini Muhammadu Gambari further confirmed that late Salaudeen was a gallant Air Force officer who governed the state of harmony diligently.

    This is contained in a condolence message issued by the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, on Saturday. The Emir further described late Olatinwo as an advocate of War Against Indiscipline and Corruption which was the hallmark of the Buhari/Idiagbon-led military government in the country.

    Similarly, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also expressed sadness over the demise of the Ambassador of Nigeria to France, Amb. Kayode Laro, who died on Friday.

    While commiserating with the families of the duo of the ex-military warlord and the Nigerian envoy, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari on behalf of the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council condoled with the entire people of the anciety city of Offa, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muhammad Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, the people of Ilorin Emirate, government and people of Kwara State over the demise of the two prominent Kwarans.

    “These are unfortunate incidences that have befell us in Kwara State. They are indeed great losses to the entire state, nation and humanity in general”, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari added.

    He prayed Allah to grant them absolute forgiveness, accept their good deeds and admit them into Al-janatul firdaos.

    A former military administrator of Kwara State, Group Captain Salaudeen Olatinwo, (rtd) is dead. He was aged 80.

    Olatinwo reportedly died on Saturday (today) in the United Kingdom (UK) after battling a protracted illness.

    ROYAL NEWS reports that the ex-Airforce officer served as military governor of Kwara state from January 1984 to August 1985 under the military government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

    Born in Offa, Latinwo was part of the pioneer sets of officer cadets recruited into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in 1963, under the first Chief of Air Staff of the Nigerian Airforce, Colonel Gerhard Kahtz, who was on secondment as head of the German Air Force Assistance Group (GAFAG). The Nigerian Air force was formally established on 18 April 1964 under the Air Force Act of 1964.

    In 1999, Latinwo and other retired military officers became power factor in Nigeria. In 2001, when President Olusegun Obasanjo approved the composition of the boards of Federal Government Parastatals, Latinwo was named as a board member of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

    In 2008, Latinwo was appointed by President Umaru Yar’Adua as the chairman for Kwara State for the National Committee on Mineral Resources and Environmental Compliance (MIREMCO).

    Latinwo was born into the famous and mega rich Aliu Onaolapo Olatinwo family of Offa, in Offa local government of Kwara State in 1943. He was one of 43 children of 10 wives of his father Aliu Olatinwo.

    Latinwo attended St. Marks Primary School from 1950 to 1956 in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria. He was also educated at Offa Grammar School, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, from 1957 to 1961, where he obtained his West African School Certificate.

    In 1961, Latinwo joined the Northern Nigeria Civil Service, and worked at the Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education until 1963.

    He went to the National Institute of Administration in the United Kingdom in 1962 for an executive officers’ course, and he rose to the rank of an assistant chief executive officer in the then Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education.

    The lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District at the national assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha,  has rejoiced with the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II on his 60th birthday anniversary.

    The lawmaker who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agric Production Services and Rural Development stated this in his goodwill message issued on Thursday.

    ROYAL NEWS reports that Mustpha, who holds the traditional title of Turaki of Ilori Emirate, described the first class traditional ruler as a monarch with distinction, who has significantly contributed to peace building efforts in Kwara State.

    He noted that Olofa of Offa is a successful business tycoon who has also made enviable impact in the private sector.

    The lawmaker added that the monarch has and is still distinguishing himself in all ramifications, saying that his type was rare among his contemporaries.

    He further maintained that the people of Offa are fortunate to have Oba Esuwoye II as the monarch of the ancient town with the level of development it has witnessed in the last few years and called for total support for him always.

    While praying for quality health and longevity of life for Olofa of Offa, Mustapha thanked the foremost traditional ruler for his royal blessings and services to humanity.

    He said: “I join eminent Nigerians and Kwarans in particular to congratulate the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II on his diamond anniversary. As a foremost monarch and successful business tycoon, the enviable impact he has made is resonating with us.

    “It is not in doubt that our revered traditional ruler has contributed significantly to peace building efforts in Kwara State and we are proud to identify with him. The development Offa town has witnessed in the last few years of his ascension to the throne of his forebears is unparalleled.”
