Tension in Kaduna community as 4 killed, others injured over building demolition

About four persons have been reportedly killed while several others sustained various degrees of gun shot injuries during demolition of houses in Sabon Gida, in Kapam community, Chikun LGA of Kaduna state, causing tension.

Eyewitness sources however said that more than four persons were killed during the incident, adding that some died of bullet injury on the way to hospital.

Eyewitness account also said that a house wife was being tortured, and her brother in-law who rushed to rescued her was shot by the security operatives suspected to be state government private security know as KADGIS or JTF led by Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority (KASUPDA) to the area..
Parents of one of victims who comfirned the killing of their son Genesis peter, during the incident in the area visited by our corresoondent on Tuesday, were visibly high and angry mere looking.

Although she could speak further due to tears, the grieving mother of the victim was surrounded by mourners in her residence owning to the sad incident that lead to the killing of her son who’s picture was openly displayed on the wall in their compound.

However, some of community leaders who also spoke to our reporter also open their cloths and showed evident of head and body injuries sustained from beaten during the incident occurred on Thursday last week.

Contacted for clarification, Kaduna state police command spokesman Muhammad Jalige and his counterpart in KASUPDA, Nuhu Garba, promised to get back to our reporter but never did until the time of filing this report.

Local sources however alleged that quit notice was served on the owners and occupants of the disputed land allegedly owned by Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (KRPC).

According to community leaders who spoke in confident, some of buildings, erected on the alleged KRPC land were built for over 40 years ago, adding that some of the demolished new buildings are estimated at over N5 million value.

It was also gathered that CID from the state police command were been expected by leaders of the community on the brutal killings, on Tuesday for discussion.

A commercial motorcyclist who promised anonymity also confirmed the incident, saying all commercial motorcyclist operating in the area were not allowed to pass through police check point opposite KRPC side gate when the operation was on.

“Even with your passenger, you will not ask to turn and go round the other KRPC road to rido or dropped, and if the person is going to kapam, the crises riding community.

Findings revealed that over 14 buildings and shops were demolished during exercise conducted by state government agency.
