President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration is committed to making the South East great again. The assurance came during a state visit to Abia, where he was conferred with the traditional title of Udo Kpu Enyị I of Abia by the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, in recognition of his contributions to the state, the region, and the country. Speaking at a civic reception at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Tinubu highlighted his government’s efforts to boost economic activities, including the reconstruction of the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway and other federal interventions across the region.
The President also noted the economic gains achieved under his administration, citing an increase in GDP and a decrease in inflation, while emphasizing that Abia remains crucial to Nigeria’s economic development. He commended Southeast governors for their unity and pledged continued support to ensure the region’s growth.
During the visit, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, appealed for the establishment of a seaport in the South East to further enhance trade, while Governor Alex Otti thanked Tinubu for commissioning several state and federal projects, including key roads in Aba, and called for improved rail and port infrastructure to boost commerce in the region.
