Tinubu’s Reforms Will Benefit Workers Long-Term — APC Chieftain Bankole

Date:

A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tolu Bankole, has said that the ongoing economic reforms under President Bola Tinubu will eventually deliver long-term benefits for Nigerian workers.

Bankole made the remark in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja to mark International Workers’ Day, where he described Nigerian workers as the “engine room of national development” and praised their resilience amid economic challenges.

He said the reform agenda of the Tinubu administration was not focused on short-term gains but on repositioning the economy for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.

According to him, the policies are designed to strengthen key sectors and improve living standards across the country, especially for workers who remain central to national development.

Bankole noted that early indicators of progress were already emerging in sectors such as education and other critical institutions, which he said were beginning to experience relative stability.

He acknowledged that the benefits of the reforms were still developing but expressed confidence that Nigerian workers would ultimately be the greatest beneficiaries when the policies fully mature.

“The relative peace we are witnessing across key sectors is evidence that these reforms are gaining traction. These are important milestones in our broader economic recovery agenda,” he said.

He urged workers to remain patient and continue supporting government policies through constructive engagement, stressing that economic transformation requires collective effort and time.

Bankole also assured that workers’ welfare remains a priority within the APC’s governance approach, adding that ongoing reforms are aimed at stabilising the economy and creating wider opportunities for citizens.

He concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration and reaffirmed his solidarity with the labour movement.
