Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Monday evening at Siun junction along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday. According to the agency’s spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the crash occurred after a truck lost control due to brake failure and collided with multiple vehicles.

The victims were identified as a motorcyclist and his female passenger. Both died at the scene of the accident.

Akinbiyi said the vehicles involved included a private car with number plate KTU 152 JB, a Mazda bus (LSR 345 YK), a motorcycle (KNN 515 VD), and a truck (T5582 LA).

“A fatal multiple road traffic accident happened at the Siun junction. According to eyewitness accounts, the truck experienced brake failure and rammed into other vehicles, including the motorcycle,” Akinbiyi stated.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered from the scene, and emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.

Meanwhile, a separate road incident on Sunday in Sagamu triggered protests after a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian, Jide Oyeleke, on Ewusi Road.

Oyeleke was reportedly hit by a speeding Toyota Camry around 9 p.m., leading to his immediate death. The driver fled the scene.

Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents.
