Trump Claims Maduro, Wife Captured In U.S. Operation

Date:

United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been captured following what he described as a large-scale U.S. operation.

Trump made the announcement on Saturday in a post on his Truth Social platform, alleging that the operation involved U.S. law enforcement agencies and resulted in Maduro and his wife being flown out of Venezuela.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Trump wrote, adding that further details would be provided at a news conference scheduled for 11 a.m. at Mar-a-Lago.

No immediate confirmation was available from U.S. government agencies or Venezuelan authorities regarding the claim.

The announcement comes months after the United States increased its reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest to $50 million, citing alleged involvement in international drug trafficking.

Maduro has long rejected the accusations, describing them as politically motivated.

In 2020, during Trump’s first term as president, the United States indicted Maduro and several senior Venezuelan officials on charges related to drug trafficking and corruption.
