Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, met with United States President Donald Trump on Thursday at the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast held on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
During the high-profile event, President Trump publicly acknowledged Mrs Tinubu, describing her as a “very respected woman” as he recognised her presence before a global audience.
While delivering his address, Trump invited the Nigerian First Lady to stand, drawing applause from guests in attendance.
Introducing her, the U.S. president highlighted her dual role as a national leader and religious figure, noting that she also serves as a Christian pastor at what he described as the largest church in Nigeria.
“We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria. A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much,” Trump said.
Mrs Tinubu’s appearance at the event underscores Nigeria’s diplomatic presence at major international gatherings and reflects the continued engagement between Nigerian and U.S. leaders.
