United States President Donald Trump has welcomed Venezuela’s decision to release political prisoners, describing the move as a significant humanitarian step.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump said he was pleased to inform the public that Venezuela was freeing political detainees “at a rapid rate.”
He expressed appreciation to Venezuelan leaders for what he called a “powerful humanitarian gesture,” noting the speed with which the releases were taking place.
The development follows Venezuela’s release of more than 80 political prisoners amid sustained pressure from the United States.
