UNILORIN Gets Multi-million Naira Facilities Donation

The University of Ilorin AAKTP team has donated items worth millions of Naira to staff members of the University that took part in the project, which 15-months project Award came to an end recently.

Speaking at the official announcement of the project’s closure at the Microscale Embedded Limited premises in Abuja, the Chairman of the company, Mr Frame Ken, expressed satisfaction over the level of work done by the team,

He disclosed that the team also donated items, which included sitting facilities (tents and chairs) to the Food Engineering Department, Laptops and tables, farm inputs to over 100 rice farmers, and A6 SERIES 43” SMART TV to the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

The Innovate UK Local Management Committee of the AAKP commended the University and other counterpart teams for a successful completion of the AAKTP project Award.

Mr Ken, who expressed hope for future collaboration on a similar project, acknowledged and appreciated the joint team work by the University of Ilorin, De Montfort University, and Microscale Embedded Limited on the project.

While advising the team to put in for the next AAKTP in March, 2025 the company executive also thanked them for reporting the underspent amount of £13,535.00 from the project, which, according to him, is a measure of the level of sincerity of the team members.

“The money was jointly agreed to be used for conference, cyber security training and payment of article processing charges (APC) for manuscripts, among others”, he added.

In his remarks on behalf of the project team, Prof. Joshua Olanrewaju Olaoye, who was the Academic Lead, appreciated everyone that participated and contributed to the success of the project. He appealed to the management of Microscale Embedded Limited to do everything within its reach to further improve on the AVAC Apps “if we must showcase the product at any events in the nearest future”.

Prof. Olaoye applauded the Innovate UK, UNILORIN, and DMU Teams, Mr Darsheet Chauhan, and Mr Frame Ken for providing necessary supports throughout the project.

He also pleaded that proper documentation on the Apps must be done as a matter of urgency with some notable agencies such as NOTAP and NCC, among others.

In his comment, Prof. M. O. Sunmonu (Academic Supervisor) also thanked the programmers, research assistants, AAKTP associate, and software engineers who worked tirelessly on the project.

Highlights of the meeting, which comprised of physical and virtual attendance by stakeholders, included reports from the Chairman’s associate, African academic, UK academic, facilitator’s (business supervisor), KTP advisor, as well as detailed financial updates of the project.
