UNILORIN hosts National Youth Games Sept. 10
Arrangements have been concluded by the authority of the University of Ilorin to host the 5th edition of the National Youth Games slated to hold between September 10th and 16th, 2019.
ROYAL NEWS reports that this is the fourth consecutive time the University will be hosting young people from across the federation who would be competing for sport honours.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, who spoke in Ilorin at the joint technical meeting of all the Directors of Sports in the nation said that the institution had become the home of sports and development for the country.

The Vice-Chancellor promised to give special admission consideration to any of the athletes who performs exceptionally well during the games to help them further their education.
Prof. Abdulkareem also called on the Federal Government to improve the sporting facilities at the institution while assuring that the University would make all its facilities available for the games.
In his remarks, the Director of Grassroots Sports in the Federal Ministry of Sports, Dr. Ademola Are, thanked the University of Ilorin for being a good host over the years, saying that the game is being held at the institution because the hosting has been good. Dr. Are, who noted the wonderful hosting of the Youth Games by the University over the years, appealed to the University management to once again avail the organisers their usual support to make the 5th edition a huge success.
The Chairman of the Sports Directors Association, Alhaji Tunji Kazeem, who spoke on behalf of the other States’ Sport Directors, thanked the University for hosting the last three editions of the games. READ ALSO:15yr-old candidate emerges overall best in 2019 UTME
Alhaji Kazeem specifically praised the University for her Squash Court, submitting that only two states have such standard Squash Court in the nation.
The 5th National Youth Games would feature 34 sporting events.
