[VIDEOS] Court grants 67 EndBadGovernance ‘minors’ N10m bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted a bail of N10 million each to 67 minors out of the 76 arraigned for participating in the August 2024 #EndBadGovernance protests.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu presided over the case, ROYAL NEWS has gathered.

The suspects are facing a ten-count charge bordering on alleged treason, and conspiracy to commit felony with intent to destabilize Nigeria, which is contrary to Section 96 and punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code Act.

Those granted bail, who are below 15 years old, are expected to present one surety who must be a civil servant.

Meanwhile, another 87 adults are currently being arraigned on the same charges.

However, there was dramatic scene at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, as a 15-year-old boy, among 76 protesters detained for participating in the #EndBadGovernance movement, collapsed before the trial began.

With the assistance of lawyers in the courtroom, the frail-looking boy was rushed to the court’s clinic while his co-defendants, many of whom were visibly shaken, wept uncontrollably.
