Wizkid becomes first African Artist to surpass 9 billion spotify streams

Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has reached a historic milestone by surpassing 9 billion streams across all credits on Spotify.

This achievement makes him the first African artist to cross the 9 billion stream mark on the global music platform.

Wizkid’s most streamed track on Spotify is the 2016 global hit “One Dance,” a collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake and British singer Kyla. The song has garnered over 3.7 billion streams and ranks among the top 10 most streamed songs in Spotify’s history.

“One Dance” also holds a Guinness World Record as the first song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Among Wizkid’s solo projects, his most streamed lead single is “Essence,” featuring fellow Nigerian artist Tems. The critically acclaimed track has amassed over 303 million streams on the platform.

The Afrobeat superstar continues to solidify his status as a leading figure in global music, with a catalog that blends African rhythms with mainstream appeal.
