At least nine people have been killed and eight others injured after suspected bandits attacked Rumbuki village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday evening.
Security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details of the incident on X, said the attackers stormed the village and opened fire on residents, leaving several dead and others with varying degrees of injuries. He also noted that some residents are still missing following the attack.
The violence reportedly extended to nearby Nikai village, where attackers allegedly set houses ablaze, further worsening the scale of destruction in the affected communities.
Among those killed in the attack were said to be three children of a respected local figure, according to the report, adding to the grief and shock in the area.
The latest attack has again raised concerns over worsening insecurity in rural parts of Zamfara State, with calls for urgent and more effective security intervention to protect vulnerable communities.
