The electoral victory of Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, as the Mayor of the New York City, has been described as an absolute for democracy and the entire determined youths globally.
An Islamic cleric and Sarkin Samari Faidha of Tijaniyya movement in Kwara State, Khalifah AbdulKadir Onikanhun, stated this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin stressing that the entire Muslim Ummah should be proud of the electoral victory of Zohran Mamdani.
Onikanhun who tagged the young politician as a “Champion of Democracy 2025” noted that his victory has sent strong messages to youths globally to be determined and committed in the genuine course that they belief can drive the actualization of positive change in the society adding that “it takes strong determination to triumph in a society where racism, and religious descrimination among other factors are prevelence.”
He said that “the victory of Zohran Mamdani is an historic victory to youths and Muslims globally”, maintaining that, “it was an election devoid of rigging, manipulation and doubt as always obtainable in some countries of the world.”
The Cleric further explained that the outcome of the poll which declared Zohran Mamdani as the winner of the mayoral seat of New York City will further bring cohesion and harmony among all races and religions adherents that constitute the total population of New York, which is the most populous city in the United States of America (USA) and will no doubt promote national consciousness and democratic advancement.
He appealed to Nigerian leaders especially the electoral institution to adopt policies that will give chances for free, fair and credible elections that will produce young, versatile and brilliant new generation of leaders at all levels for the good of the nation.
Onikanhun however urged Nigerian youths to be focus and draw from the determination and commitments of Zohran Mamdani to become patriotic and valued citizens that will be agents of change in the society.
He therefore congratulates Zohran Mamdani, the New York City Mayor-Elect on his well deserved victory and wished him a successful tenure in office.
