The consensus governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, Obafemi Hamza, on Friday appeared before the party’s Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja ahead of the APC primaries.
Hamza, who currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, was screened alongside other party aspirants as part of the APC’s internal process to select its flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking after the screening exercise, the deputy governor expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members of the screening committee for what he described as a smooth and successful process.
“I am grateful for the clean bill of approval and clearance to move forward,” Hamza stated shortly after the exercise in Abuja.
He added that his ambition is rooted in service to the people of Lagos State and a commitment to building on the achievements already recorded by the current administration.
According to him, Lagos has made significant progress over the years through strategic governance, infrastructure development, and economic reforms, stressing that the next phase of leadership must focus on inclusion and continuity.
“This journey is about service and a commitment to all Lagosians. We have built a solid foundation and now we are ready to take the next step toward a greater and more inclusive Lagos,” he said.
Hamza also assured party supporters and residents of the state that he remains committed to advancing policies that will improve transportation, economic opportunities, security, and social welfare across Lagos.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gradually gather momentum, the APC leadership is expected to conclude its screening and primary processes in preparation for the highly anticipated governorship race in Lagos State.
