65th independence:Adamawa Governor Fintiri Calls for Unity, Strength in Diversity

Date:

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged Nigerians to harness the country’s diversity as a source of strength and a foundation for national progress.

Delivering his Independence Day speech at Ribadu Square in Yola on Wednesday, Fintiri compared Nigeria’s diversity to rivers flowing into a single, powerful stream. “Like rivers that flow into one mighty stream, our differences must flow into one shared destiny,” he said, stressing that a divided Adamawa, like a divided Nigeria, cannot thrive.

He called on citizens to make independence meaningful through tangible change rather than mere words. “As we mark this day, let us renew a sacred pledge: to make independence matter, not in words, but in real, visible change,” Fintiri added.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the governor noted efforts to improve education, healthcare, infrastructure, and peacebuilding across the state. “We have rebuilt classrooms and reimagined education. We have revitalized healthcare, because a healthy society is a strong one. We have connected communities with roads and bridges, and pursued peace as a precondition for growth,” he said.

Fintiri’s message coincides with nationwide calls for unity and development as Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary.
