Senate summons Gas Marketing Company boss over sales, purchase agreements

Senate Committee on Gas on Wednesday summoned the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd, Justin Ezeala, requesting for the details of gas sales, purchase agreements with gas companies and non- compliance with due process in the Auto CNG Project with the NIPCO Gas.

The committee, chaired by Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe decided to summon the Managing Director after a closed door session by its members at the National Assembly.

It expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd., NNPCL, Mele Kyari who has been accused of preventing the National Assembly committees from ovet-sighting subsidiaries of the NNPCL which the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA empowers.

The committee is also demanding financial statement on the Auto CNG Project with NiPCO, where NGML has approved an Investment of N30 billion .

It, therefore, resolved to invite the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd to appear to give details of gas sales, purchase agreements with gas companies , non compliance with due process.

The committee also expressed dissatisfaction with the attempt by the Group CEO of NNPCL preventing the Committee of National Assembly from directly over-sighting subsidiaries of NNPCL which the Petroleum Industry Act empowers the committee to oversight.

It, therefore, vowed to use relevant provisions of the constitution to enforce the appearance of the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd, if he fails to honour its invitation again .Senate summons Gas Marketing Company boss over sales, purchase agreements
