Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday Commissioned the Ultramodern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Dr. Amuda Aliko VIP Ward at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) Ilorin.
At the commissioning were the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulraman Abdulrazaq, his wife, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, members of the State Executive Council as well as some dignitaries from other states.
Reacting to journalists, Kwara State Commissioner of Health, Amina Ahmed El-Imam, said the Ultramodern ward is for everybody to access to without having yo break their account.
“The facility will take care of both men and women, young and aged alike”, she said.
“Furniture is brand new and everything is comfortable, all of these to reduce hospital acquired infection and reduce recuperation time of the patients that will use the Amuda Aliko wards.
There are 19 rooms in all. Some are double rooms and single. The single rooms are very spacious and can accommodate the patient and medical health workers comfortably. While the double rooms is like a room and a parlour. They meet all kinds of targets and needs with the facility provided in here.
Speaking on the affordability, the commissioner of health said, “it is not free but you can be rest assured that it is affordable as the government of Kwara State always carries along the least privileged ones in mind. At the same time,.there is need to carry out a more higher level of care and than is obtains at our primary health care or our conventional secondary health centre.”
That’s the reason dor the facility. So that we can cater for all social economic strata without breaking their pockets and it will also help to reduce medical tourism.
Responding to maintenance culture necessary to keep the facility in shape, the commissioner said she trust the effort of the staff of the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital and the Amuda Aliko wards to care of the facility. “Becaure they have not had this kind of facility before. No one will have a good thing and will decide to ruin it
Sen. Tinubu left for the palace of the Emir of Ilorin immediately after the commissioning.
