Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has refuted reports that her contract with Roc Nation prohibits her from having a romantic relationship or starting a family during its term.
The 22-year-old artist, whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently signed a five-year management agreement with Roc Nation, the entertainment agency founded by U.S. music executive Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
Following the announcement, unverified claims began circulating on social media suggesting that the contract includes restrictive clauses regarding her personal life.
“Ayra Starr isn’t allowed to have a boyfriend or start a family during her five years contract with Roc Nation,” a podcaster alleged in a video widely shared on X (formerly Twitter).
In response, Ayra Starr took to social media to dismiss the claims. Quoting the viral post, she wrote: “Does Ayra Starr know about this?”
She also reposted a message from another user that read: “Them lie on top your head for broad daylight,” indicating that the speculation was false.
Neither Roc Nation nor representatives of the singer have issued an official statement regarding the content of the contract.
Ayra Starr rose to prominence with her debut single “Away” and is one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising Afrobeats stars. Her deal with Roc Nation marks a significant step in her international career.
